Can a cat that needs medication board safely? Yes. A cat on medication can board safely when staff are trained to give oral, topical and subcutaneous medication, work alongside the cat's own vet, and keep stress low with Fear Free handling. At Shangri-Paw, our founder is vet-nurse trained, and we regularly care for cats with CKD, diabetes, asthma, arthritis and post-surgery recovery.

When boarding is not the right call
Trust matters more than a booking, so we are honest about our limits. We are not currently able to board:
Cats needing manual bladder / bowel expression
History of severe biting
Highly contagious condition such as
active ringworm, parvo or cat flu
If we do not think boarding is right for your cat, we will tell you.

Kerstin is vet-nurse trained and a Fear Free Certified Professional, and designed the space so each cat almost has their own isolation space: separate rooms, glass doors which means lower disease risk for a vulnerable cat.
Before the stay we confirm your cat's medications, doses and your vet's details. During the stay we keep to the schedule, log everything, send daily updates, and escalate anything that needs urgent veterinary attention straight away.
For cats that should not jump or need close monitoring, we have rooms where the furniture can be removed entirely, with vet-grade hygiene: F10 disinfectant, high-temperature laundry, stainless steel litter boxes, HEPA air purifiers, and no shared spaces. For isolation, a strict protocol with dedicated PPE.

Yes. At Shangri-Paw we administer oral, topical and subcutaneous medication, including subcutaneous fluids and inhalers, kept to your vet's schedule and logged with daily updates. Our founder is vet-nurse trained, we are AVS licensed, and anything urgent is escalated to a vet straight away.

Yes. We give subcutaneous fluids and injections, as well as oral, topical and transdermal medication, working alongside your own vet. Kerstin is vet-nurse trained.

Yes. We generally board FIV and FeLV positive cats, unless they are actively showing symptoms. We do so with stricter hygiene and disinfection where needed, in private rooms with no shared spaces.

We are not currently able to board cats needing manual bladder or bowel expression, cats with a history of severe biting, or cats with an untreated contagious condition such as ringworm or cat flu.

In case of ringworm or other highly contagious diseases, we are required to ask owners to find other arrangements within 24 hours to keep everyone on the premises safe.
